Remembering Children of Dune

In Spring of 2003, Sci-Fi Channel produced the very expensive mini-series “Children of Dune” starring then newcomer James McAvoy and Susan Sarandon. Superb and emotionally charged storytelling, characters, acting, and direction punctuated by one of the best scores ever recorded, it was largely missed by many fans who were not pleased with the first mini-series. I was one of those fans.

Children of Dune was something I found on video later when I couldn’t find anything else to rent. What a pleasant surprise! Now I wish we could see the next installment, “God Emperor of Dune.” Children of Dune is better than both the original Dune and it’s remake.
